Rest-of-Season Projections
Castillo was released by the Chargers on Thursday, the team's official website reports.
ANALYSIS
This comes as a surprise since the former first-round pick just re-signed with San Diego for one year. It doesn't seems like the type of move a team would make unless there are serious health concerns, and that would make sense given Castillo's lengthy injury history. Still just 28-years-old, he should catch on somewhere as a backup 3-4 defensive end at the very least, health permitting. Corey Liuget, Vaughn Martin, Jacques Cesaire, and Kendall Reyes are the remaining defensive ends of note in San Diego; not a group that inspires any confidence.

Castillo will start at the right defensive end position. He has averaged two sacks per year from that position over the past four seasons, but the Bolts would love to see him come closer to the production he displayed in 2006 when he had seven sacks in only 10 games.
