Should resume his usual role of backing up a Manning, only this time it's Eli. Rhett Bomar could push him, but Sorgi is the favorite for the job.
With the normally 100 percent healthy Peyton Manning suffering from an infected bursa sac in his left knee and out until the season's commencement, Sorgi has finally become semi-relevant among fantasy circles. He has posted quality statistics in the past in the few times he's been thrust into action, although none of his playing time ever came in a pressure-filled scenario. He would inherit an offense loaded with weapons if Manning were to get hurt, though it remains to be seen both how he would handle the pressure and how Indianapolis would change its normally pass-happy offensive philosophy. You can do worse than to handcuff him to Manning if you can afford the roster spot, although he's not worth it in shallower leagues.
Sorgi has the cushiest job in the NFL, basically being paid to hold a clipboard and have the best seat in the house for every Colts' game. Last season he didn't even attempt a pass and only appeared in one game. Despite the lack of playing time last season, Sorgi is a competent backup that would be able to fill in for Manning, but by no means replace him, if he ever went down. Sorgi will have some competition this summer with the arrival of John Navarre who is also quite adept at holding a clipboard.
Sorgi is the backup to Peyton Manning, but has had a sore throwing arm in the offseason which could land him on injured reserve or bump him down to the No. 3 QB spot behind Shaun King.
Sorgi will serve as PeytonManning's backup. With the Colts winning several blowouts, Sorgi appeared in four games in his rookie season. The offense held it's own when he was at the helm, but he did lose the final game of the year when he played all but one series as Manning was rested (going 16 of 25 for 168 yards with two TDs and no interceptions). Manning hasn't missed a game in his NFL career, so it's unlikely he'll be a factor this season.
Sorgi enters the summer as the number three QB and could challenge at some point for the number two role after being drafted in 2004 out of Wisconsin.
