ANALYSIS
The Ravens were desperate for help at outside linebacker after Terrell Suggs (Achilles) suffered a season-ending injury, but Babin ultimately just made things worse, with his primary impact coming via careless penalties. Given how poorly he played, the 35-year-old Babin may not get another shot in the NFL.

Babin will look to latch on with a new team after being cut by the Jets on September 5. He filled in as a backup pass rusher during the 2014 season, his first year as a Jet, on the way to 25 tackles and two sacks in 16 games. He'd be a depth add for any team looking to sign him.
Babin recorded just seven sacks last season, falling short of his 2010 and 2011 totals, 12.5 and 18 sacks respectively. However, he figures to be a featured part of the Jaguars' defensive line in 2013, so a bounce-back season is not out of the question.
With just 17.5 sacks in his seven NFL seasons prior to posting 12.5 in 2010 for the Titans, it seemed reasonable to write off Babin entering last year as a likely one-year wonder. Such an assumption could not be more false, it turned out, as Babin ended 2012 with 18 sacks. Although he is generally a bit one-dimensional, Babin could not be a better fit in defensive line coach Jim Washburn's wide four-front alignments, and his upfield explosiveness still seems baffling to opposing offensive lines.
After totaling just 17.5 sacks in his first seven seasons, Babin erupted for 12.5 last year. The former first-round bust was always a height/weight/speed standout, but his game never came together before last season. He returns to Philadelphia and figures to rotate more than he did in Tennessee last year.
It appears as if Babin will be starting at defensive-end to start the 2010 season for the Titans. He has not been a regular starter since his rookie year in 2004 and his starting job may only be temporary, depending on how first round draft pick, Derrik Morgan, plays.
Babin will serve as a situational pass rusher, likely when opposing offenses find themselves in third-and-long situations. He could be good for five-plus sacks, but his production will be next to impossible to predict and he won't rack up enough tackles to be considered in most IDP leagues.
Babin will be part of the defensive end rotation, but is not projected as a starter at this point.
Babin will make the switch from outside linebacker to defensive end this season as Houston changes from a 3-4 to 4-3 alignment. Babin is familiar with DE as that is where he played in college. He will compete with Antwan Peek and free agent Anthony Weaver for playing time at right defensive end position opposite No. 1 overall pick Mario Williams. All four will comprise the end rotation in one form or another.
Texans head coach Dom Capers wants to get quicker and faster on defense, and Babin is part of that solution. As a rookie in 2004, he started all 16 games at outside linebacker and recorded 76 tackles and four sacks. He will again start at outside linebacker, the position that should produce the most sacks on the Texans' defense. If the Texans get improvement on their pass rush, Babin could develop into an IDP.
The Texans traded up to draft Babin and they want to make him an edge linebacker with a specialty in rushing the passer. Kailee Wong on the other side might be the better bet for sacks, but Babin will be given the opportunity to make plays.
