Faneca announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday, the Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
Faneca, the Steelers' first-round draft pick in 1998, was selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls during his 13-year career. He also played with the Jets for two seasons before playing in the desert in 2010. The Cardinals, who have not drafted an offensive lineman in two years, had been hoping to have Faneca back to anchor the left side; Rex Hadnot may now make the move to left guard.
