There are several reasons to think White could be a player on the rise. In 2008 he equaled his career high with 6.5 sacks – despite playing just 12 games. He came close to a new high in tackles as well, with 38. Combine those promising numbers with a new regime in Detroit – head coach Jim Schwartz has an impeccable pedigree on defense, having served as the Titans’ defensive coordinator – and an improving front seven that will include ex-Falcon Grady Jackson and new linebackers Larry Foote and Julian Peterson, and White looks like a real IDP sleeper.
White set a career high with 6.5 sacks in 2007, but was limited due to a triceps injury the last half of the season. If he can stay healthy, expect surpass last year's totals.
The Lions signed White away from the Buccaneers in March and he will start at right defensive end. He had one of the best years of his career in 2006, registering 43 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles, and even a couple of blocked kicks. He is IDP worthy.
White had three sacks and three fumble recoveries as the third defensive end for the Bucs last year, and is counted on to be a big part of their defensive line rotation this season.
He'll likely play a big part in the Bucs' defensive end rotation in 2005.
He looked good in limited duty for the Bucs in 2003, and he should nail down a significant (albeit not starting) role as part of the Bucs' D-line rotation in 2004.
The rookie has a decent chance to get some back-door sacks as a reserve DE with the Bucs in 2003 as offenses concentrate on stopping Rice, McFarland and Sapp.
