The Bears released Adams on Sunday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Adams was a free-agent signing in 2007, and has recorded just 4.5 sacks in his five season with the team. Last year he racked up 16 tackles (13 solo) and no sacks in 11 games. Adams will be 32 in June, and it remains to be seen whether or not he'll get a contract before training camp.

Adams finished with 37 tackles and two sacks in 2010, numbers he should have no problem replicating in 2011. Especially considering Chicago's new found depth at defensive tackle, which could keep everyone fresh throughout games.
Adams served as the Bears' starting right defensive tackle for much of 2009 and had one of the most productive seasons of his seven-year career, recording 44 tackles and two sacks. Adams will battle Marcus Harrison for the starting spot this offseason.
Adams may start and will certainly factor into the Bears' defensive tackle rotation. He is not a great option in IDP leagues entering the year.
Adams could start alongside Tommie Harris and will be counted on to be a valuable part of the defensive line rotation.
Finding themself thin at defensive tackle entering 2007, the Bears signed Adams, a former 49er, in the offseason. The veteran is expected to start at one of the DT spots and should help Chicago improve its run defense up the middle. Adams also can chip in with the occasional sack, but he's not much of a fantasy option.

Adams, who is coming off two somewhat disappointing seasons, is expected to play nose tackle in the 49ers' new 3-4 defensive scheme.
Will get a shot to be a starting DT after a disappointing rookie year in 2003.
