Trufant spent the entirety of his 10 NFL seasons in Seattle, where he started 125 games before becoming a free agent in March of 2013. Trufant signed with the Jaguars last May but was released prior to the regular season. He'll retire with the fifth-most interceptions (21) and tenth-most tackles (638) in Seahawks history.

The 10-year veteran will have a chance to earning a starting spot while being reunited with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, who previously coached Trufant in Seattle.
Trufant missed the first six weeks with a back injury last season, and when he returned he wasn't 100 percent healthy. Despite playing in only 10 games, he led the league with seven pass interference penalties (in a addition to a holding penalty and an illegal contact penalty). Hopefully he's healthy for 2010 because the Seahawks need great improvement in the defensive backfield. As an IDP, there are better DB options.
Trufant had a down year in 2008, but he was often a victim of Seattle's defensive ineptitude. Opposing quarterbacks stayed away from his side of the field, content to feast on the rest of the secondary. Thus, his numbers were down across the board. Ken Lucas was signed in the offseason, which should give Trufant some help. Don't expect the seven interceptions he had in 2007, though.
Trufant turned in a solid 2007 season with 85 tackles and a career-high seven interceptions. The increased interceptions, after he amassed just two picks combined in his previous two seasons, coincided with his moving to the left side of the defense where he got more looks from opposing quarterbacks. That said, his interceptions still seem a bit fluky considering five of them came in two games. Trufant's still valuable – 85 tackles last year and 64 or more in each of his five NFL seasons are nothing to sneeze at – but don't overpay.
Trufant is an excellent cover corner but was hurt last year by lackluster play in the Seattle secondary. For the second year in a row, Trufant had just one interception as offenses throw away from him. As such, he's not a good IDP play.
Trufant has developed into an excellent cover corner. Alas, it has hurt his fantasy value. He went from five interceptions in 2004 to one in 2005 as teams avoided his side. If first-round pick Kelly Jennings starts opposite Trufant on the left side, expect teams to avoid Trufant even more as they challenge the rookie.
Trufant was just the second corner in NFL history to lead his team in tackles, which goes to show how banged up Seattle’s linebacking corps was last year, and how improbable a repeat of 86 solo tackles will be. One of the better cover corners in the league, Trufant has smooth change of direction skills, excellent burst and good leaping ability. He fights fiercely, and though his size (5-11, 199) allows him to get stuffed by a good block, his effort contributes to his ability to rack up the tackles. With other corner Ken Lucas replaced by Andre Dyson, Trufant may be thrown at less, limiting his ability to make plays.
Trufant returns as the starting left cornerback. He totaled 83 tackles in 2004, but only had two interceptions as teams were slow to throw his way. Trufant is an excellent shut-down corner who played well from the start last season. However, his IDP value take a hit because teams down't throw his way, depriving him of INT opportunities.
Trufant has impressed coaches and could find himself starting. He's backing up Ken Lucas at right corner, but Lucas has been injured in camp, giving Trufant plenty of opportunities. Expect Trufant to play in nickel and dime situations with a few starts possible toward the end of the year, if not sooner.
