Buffalo added depth and youth to its secondary this offseason, snagging James via free agency and adding three cornerbacks, most notably 11th overall pick Leodis McKelvin, through the draft. James joins the Bills after spending the last two seasons in Philadelphia, where he started six games in 2007. He’ll compete with McKelvin and Jabari Greer to be the Bills’ No. 2 corner, but will likely wind up as a piece of Buffalo’s nickel or dime packages, limiting his IDP value.

James figures to push starters Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown and, at the very least, will be the favorite to fill the nickel cornerback job held in recent years by Rod Hood.

The Giants starting right corner back, Peterson is the closest thing the team has to a shut down corner. He'll have to do a better job of hanging onto interceptions, however.

Returning from a stress fracture in his back, Peterson should be okay for the start of the season. He's one notch below Pro-Bowl level at this point, but still has room to grow.

Peterson will be the Giants' starting right cornerback, teaming up with fellow third-year player Will Allen to form one of the better young corner tandems in the NFL. A couple picks and 50 solo tackles are reasonable expectations.
