Thomas worked out for the Dolphins on Tuesday, according to the South Sun-Sentinel.
ANALYSIS
Thomas would take the place of Channing Crowder who the Dolphins are thinking about placing on season-ending IR. Thomas had the best season of his career while playing for defensive coordinator Mike Nolan in Baltimore. Another reason to sign Thomas would be to keep him away from the Jets, who are also interested. The problem is, at 33 years of age, and coming off a disappointing stint with the Patriots, it's uncertain how much Thomas has left in the tank.

Thomas, slated to start at right outside linebacker for the Patriots, finished up the 2008 season with 34 tackles and five sacks in nine games and health-permitting, will be a candidate for 70-80 tackles and double-digit sacks in 2009.
With Roosevelt Colvin jettisoned, Thomas is expected to be used more as a pass rusher in 2008. Expect him to approach a double-digit sack total and eclipse his 2007 IDP value.
The current Pats' regime is not known for making big splashes in free agency (Rosevelt Colvin being an exception), but armed with roughly $26 million to spend, they wasted little time in securing the top player at the position of the team's greatest need. The Pro Bowler, who has the size and speed to play off the line and is one of the best edge rushers in the game, is a perfect fit in New England's defensive scheme and barring an injury should be worth the big bucks he is about to get.
Coming off of a huge season, one of the few Ravens who didn't disappoint last year. He probably won't repeat the nine sacks he registered last year, but he'll be ownable in leagues that require multiple IDP's.
Starting linebacker, good tackle numbers.
Thomas will enter the season as a starting defensive end.
Thomas appears to have successfully moved from defensive end to outside linebacker. Thomas beat out last year's starter and this year's first round draft choice to win the position. He won't be an every down outside linebacker, only because the Ravens are so deep at the position. He also was the tackler who broke Mike Vick's leg.
