Booker had four catches for 57 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' 31-3 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Booker made some noise on Sunday, but has had a very quiet season so far as the Falcons' No. 4 receiver (16 catches, 181 yards, one touchdown). Considering the circumstances, he stepped in well for Harry Douglas (torn ACL) and Brian Finneran (knee) when they were lost for the season and gave the Falcons some marginal depth in the receiving corps. Should he return next season, the return of the aforementioned receivers should make Booker irrelevant fantasy-wise.

With Muhsin Muhammad and Bernard Berrian gone, someone has to catch passes for the Bears, so they signed Booker, who once caught 197 balls for them in a two-year stretch. At age 31, Booker's largely a possession receiver, but he caught a whopping 78 percent of the balls thrown his way last year, the highest rate in the league. And considering he did that while playing for the Dolphins, the move to Chicago's passing game might even constitute an upgrade. At 6-0, 211, Booker's got good size, runs crisp routes and knows how to get open. He's not going to blow by anyone but does have a little burst and run-after-the-catch ability. Booker's been nagged by knee, shoulder, ankle, calf and chest injuries the last few years that have cost him a few games per season, but he's healthy at press time.
Booker was Miami's leading receiver in 2006, but he was by no means a No. 1 and still isn't, especially not for fantasy purposes. Last season, he led the Dolphins in receiving yards (747) and receiving touchdowns (six), but much of that came in a four-game stretch late in the season. He has neither caught more than 55 passes nor played a full 16-game season since 2002, so don't count on those facts to change in 2007 with Booker already on the wrong side of 30. Consider him a fantasy No. 3 at best.
Booker is sandwiched on the depth chart by Chris Chambers at No. 1 and exciting up-and-comer Derek Hagan at No. 3. Add TE Randy McMichael to the mix, and Booker won't have the opportunity to produce on a consistent basis, but can be counted on to break for a huge play from week to week. If targeted on a regular basis, however, he could end up in the range of 50 catches and 700 yards on the season.
Marty Booker is extremely capable, as is evident by 197 catches and 2,254 yards in 2002-03 in Chicago. Are his best days behind him? Probably. Would he be an excellent fantasy option if he were in Kansas City or St. Louis? Definitely. Booker is penalized by the system in which he plays, as there is room for only one wide receiver (Chris Chambers) to eek out stats. Booker managed 50 catches and almost 650 yards in 2004, but only found the end zone once in 15 games. A handful of touchdowns and 700 yards can happen in 2005, but Booker is a fantasy reserve at this point.
Booker is a more talented player in real life than this fantasy rating indicates. But the chances of him producing in line with his ability are slim due to the Bears’ new offensive system (which traditionally emphasizes receivers smaller and quicker than Booker) and uncertainty at QB. Booker caught less than half of the 105 passes thrown his way in ’03 and will have to fend off the emerging Justin Gage to remain the Bears’ No. 1 receiver.
Worried about how Booker will mesh with Kordell Stewart? You really shouldn't be. Booker put up solid numbers in 2002 (97 catches, 1,183 yards, six touchdowns) despite the fact that the Bears (1) used four different quarterbacks during the year, (2) had the worst running game in the NFC, and (3) didn't have any other receiving threats to take coverage away from Booker. Sure, Booker isn't a deep threat, and yes, the Chicago passing game can get boring with all the short routes it uses, but the bottom line is that Booker is going to get his numbers, no matter what the situation around him is. He's a solid No. 2 receiver for anyone's fantasy club.
