The Raiders reverted Cole to the practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
Cole was elevated for the first time in 2023, but he was a healthy scratch for the Raiders' regular-season finale. He hasn't played since 2022, when he appeared in 14 games for Las Vegas and accumulated 10 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown while adding 79 punt return yards.

Cole earned three starts and played at least 29 offensive snaps in seven contests this past season as fellow slot receiver Hunter Renfrow dealt with a number of injuries, but Cole's inflated playing time translated to just 10 receptions for 141 yards and a touchdown on 21 targets in 14 games. The 30-year-old re-signed with the Raiders this offseason, but his spot on the 53-man roster could be in jeopardy after displaying a lack of production in 2022.
Cole produced a promising 55/642/5 receiving stat line during his final season as a Jaguar in 2020, but his production dipped last year with the Jets as he caught just 28 passes on 51 targets for 449 yards and a touchdown in 15 contests. The 29-year-old was let go by the Raiders in late August.
Cole is a safe bet to secure a roster spot after signing a one-year, $5.5 million contract with the Jets, but he's unlikely to see the field much barring injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. New York also signed Corey Davis and drafted Elijah Moore in the second round to pair with 2020 second-rounder Denzel Mims and incumbent slot man Jamison Crowder. Cole's best chance at playing time besides injuries would be beating out Mims and Moore, but the rebuilding Jets will likely prioritize the youngsters, so the former Jaguar will be hard-pressed to reach last year's totals of 55 catches, 642 yards and five touchdowns.
Cole has provided solid production over his first three seasons for a UDFA (104 catches, 1,600 yards and seven touchdowns), but he's buried on the depth chart and has been trending down since his rookie year. The 27-year-old finished 2019 with 24 catches for 361 yards and three touchdowns and was the team's clear fourth wideout behind D.J. Chark, Chris Conley and Dede Westbrook. The addition of second-round pick Laviska Shenault only further complicates Cole's path to playing time. The Jags retained his services for 2020 with a second-round tender as a restricted free agent, though production figures to remain minimal while entering camp as the team's fourth or fifth wide receiver.
An undrafted free agent darling in 2017 while logging 749 receiving yards, Cole's sophomore season saw him take a major step back as he was basically cut out of the offense by midseason. He was heavily involved early in the year, but was marred by fumbles and drops, leading to a drastic reduction in playing time. If Cole can solve the ball-security issues, he has a real chance to step in as Jacksonville's second or third receiver behind Dede Westbrook. Cole caught 38 passes for 491 yards last year in an anemic offense, despite going catch-less in five games, so the potential for production is clearly there. New quarterback Nick Foles should also provide some added stability and accuracy compared to the likes of Blake Bortles and Cody Kessler. Cole will be competing with D.J. Chark and Chris Conley, and the competition should start out on relatively even footing.
Cole, a 2017 undrafted free agent, took advantage of numerous injuries to Jaguars receivers last season to lead the team in receiving yards (748 on 42 receptions), but will have to compete with free agent acquisition Donte Moncrief and second-round pick D.J. Chark in 2018, in addition to Dede Westbrook. The 25-year-old demonstrated near-instant chemistry with quarterback Blake Bortles in his rookie season and very well may build on that performance with his pinpoint route running, but it's worth remembering that Leonard Fournette is still poised to power a run-heavy offense. Jacksonville has a bevy of talent at wide receiver and no clear-cut No. 1 option heading into the season, which could lead to a somewhat malleable depth chart. Cole's stock did get a major bump when Marqise Lee suffered a season-ending knee injury in late August. Seemingly locked in as a starter, Cole has a real shot to lead the team in targets.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Should move into slot role
WRLas Vegas Raiders
November 10, 2022
Cole appears to be a prime candidate to handle No. 3 receiver duties for the Raiders for at least the next four games while Hunter Renfrow remains on injured reserve.
ANALYSIS
Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com relays that Renfrow was placed on IR on Thursday with rib and hamstring injuries. Cole, who's appeared in only five games for the Raiders this season and produced three receptions for 42 yards on nine targets, should be line for a boost in snaps over the next four games at minimum. Cole already enjoyed an elevated role when Renfrow missed Weeks 3 and 4 with a concussion, but he managed just one reception for 12 yards on four targets across 84 snaps in that span.
