De'Veon Smith

Smith had two strikes against him before training camp even opened. First, he was an undrafted rookie. Second, he had to start camp on the physically unable to perform list. Jay Ajayi is without a doubt the starting running back for Miami but although the backup job would seem to be there for the taking, Smith is no better than fifth or sixth on the team’s depth chart at the position and will likely have to stand out on special teams to survive the final round of roster cuts heading into the regular season.
