WRFree Agent
September 12, 2018
The Patriots released Billingsley from their practice squad Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Billingsley spent the preseason with the Lions, but was unable to secure a spot on the 53-man roster. The second-year wideout spent the last year on New England's practice squad before ultimately being released. Billingsley appeared in two games with the Lions' last year and did not accrue any statistics.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
The top of the Lions depth chart at wide receiver is pretty set in advance of the 2018 season and it seems unlikely that the team keeps a fifth receiver to stick around. If they do, Billingsley could be that guy -- the 5-foot-7 slot man has flashed as an underneath receiver each of the past two offseasons -- but another stint on the practice squad seems more probable for his future. With that said, Billingsley would only be a call away and consequently have a nonzero chance to surface on the PPR radar should something happen to Golden Tate.
Golden Tate and Marvin Jones logged the majority of the snaps on the outside in 2016 and last year's primary slot receiver, Anquan Boldin, is a free agent at press time. Billingsley is a legitimate candidate to fill that role but will face competition for snaps from third-round rookie Kenny Golladay, TJ Jones, Keshawn Martin and Jared Abbrederis.
