Aguayo has been waived by New England, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aguayo was famously taken by the Buccaneers in second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, as he was one of the most accurate college kickers in history. However, he ultimately struggled and made just 71 percent of his field-goal attempts during his rookie season. He has been looking for a second chance since, but he's yet to find one.

Aguayo will hope to revitalize his career in Los Angeles after failing to catch on with a team in 2017. Famously selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers, the former Florida State kicker struggled with bouts of inaccuracy in his lone season as the starter, eventually prompting Tampa Bay to wash their hands of the disappointing draft pick. Competing against Caleb Sturgis for the job, Aguayo could be poised to become a fantasy darling of modest proportions if manages to secure the role, as the Chargers offense figures to be one of the best in the NFL.
There were big expectations for Aguayo after he was a second-round pick in 2016, but he failed to live up to them, as his 71 percent field-goal success rate was the lowest in the NFL. He struggled mightily from distance, making just four of his 11 attempts from at least 40 yards. Additionally, there is no guarantee that he'll be the starter this season, as the Bucs brought in Nick Folk to compete for the job during training camp. Whoever wins figures to be a decent option based on attempts, though Tampa Bay isn't likely to have an offense strong enough to support a top-five fantasy kicker.
The Buccaneers traded up to draft Aguayo in the second round (59th overall) of this year's draft, making him the highest-drafted kicker since the Jets picked Mike Nugent 47th overall back in 2005. The expectations are certainly high for the Florida State product, who was successful on 90 percent of his field-goal attempts and hit all of his PATs, making him the most accurate kicker in NCAA history. The Bucs' kicker production improved markedly last season, as they ranked 28th in 2014 and 27th the year prior, before scoring the 14th-most points from the position last year. With quarterback Jameis Winston more comfortable running the offense, Aguayo could be a decent fantasy option if he can maintain his accuracy.

Visits with Patriots
KFree Agent
December 21, 2020
The Patriots hosted Aguayo for a visit Monday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aguayo hasn't played since his rookie 2016 season when he played 16 games for the Buccaneers and connected on just 22 of 31 field-goal attempts (71 percent). The Patriots aren't looking at Aguayo for the 2020 season -- Nick Folk has been outstanding this year -- but he could be an option in the future. The former second-round pick was one of the most accurate kickers in college football history, hitting 69 of 78 field-goal tries (88 percent) and all 198 extra-point attempts over three years. He may still have a chance to revitalize his career.
