Let go by Chiefs
Sterling was released by the Chiefs on Wednesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sterling spent a bit more than a month with Kansas City after signing with the team in June. The 2015 seventh-round pick suited up for five games with the Jets last season, recording six catches for 47 yards. He'll look to compete for a depth role elsewhere in the league.

Jacksonville has struggled to find consistent production at tight end in recent years, and Sterling was one of five players who saw action at the position last season. The departure of free agent bust Julius Thomas should free up snaps, though Sterling will have to compete with a number of other journeyman -- Ben Koyack, Alex Ellis, Caleb Bluiett -- for a spot on the roster behind veterans Marcedes Lewis and Mychal Rivera.
