Lewis was released Friday by the Bills, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Lewis was a 2015 seventh-round pick who stuck with the team for a bit and finished the preseason with four catches for 22 yards and one touchdown. However, he was buried on the team's depth chart after some new additions and was always seen as a long shot to make the final cut.

Lewis is big at 6-foot-4, he's a recent Bills draft pick, he's entering his third year in the league and the competition for wide receiver targets shouldn't be too fierce in a pretty thin WR corps. He'll compete with Rod Streater, Andre Holmes and rookie Zay Jones for the role of third wide receiver.
Lewis, a 2015 seventh-round pick, spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad, but made a good impression and was eventually called up to the 53-man roster late in the year. He boasts a big frame at 6-4, 214 pounds, and is currently listed with the third team on the Bills depth chart. That being said, although Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods are the clear number one and two receivers on Buffalo’s roster, the third-string receiver spot seems like it is much more irresolute, with a very unproven Marquise Goodwin currently holding the title. If Lewis can make enough plays during the preseason he should earn a spot on the Bills roster, and could potentially find a role on the offense if he can match production to his size and skill.
You can't teach size, and Lewis is 6'4"... but the 2015 7th round pick showed more than just length in a decorated career at Central Arkansas. Chances are he won't do much of anything as a rookie, but with his size and level of production in college there is a fairly high ceiling here.

Coach Rex Ryan is looking for more out of Lewis, BuffaloBills.com reports. “I haven’t seen that big of an improvement from him,” said Ryan. “He’ll get some opportunities and he’s got to stand up if he wants to make this team. He’s got to earn it, nobody’s going to give you anything. I love having a big-size guy that should be a red-zone threat but eventually you got to come down with some plays.”
