South Africa vs. Sri Lanka: First T20I preview

After whitewashing the Sri Lankans in the ODIs, South Africa will look to experiment a bit as the teams face-off in a three match T20I series starting Tuesday. The Proteas were light on cavalry in the batting department in the ODIs but have boosted their squad to challenge the Lankans with their batting might for the 1st T20I.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, would want to make a statement after conceding the ODIs without much of a fight. The shortest format presents them a chance to hide their minor flaws and depend on individual brilliance to trump the Proteas.

Conditions: High-scoring wicket with help for seamers under lights.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Quinton de Kock (10 credits)

De Kock comes off an ODI series where he made three scores of eighty-plus including a hundred. The wicket-keeper batsman is in the form if his life and has enjoyed the contest against the Lankans. Leave him out at your own peril.

Batsman:  Faf du Plessis (10 credits)

The South African skipper has been in great touch since the past few months and revels in the shortest format of the game. Coming in at one drop, he is an enforcer in this South African line-up and a great captaincy option to have. Pick him blindfolded in your fantasy team for the 1st T20I.

All-rounder: Jean-Paul Duminy (9.5 credits)

Duminy expressed his desire to retire from ODIs after the 2019 World Cup but would continue in the shortest format of the game. The

All-rounder: Jean-Paul Duminy (9.5 credits)

Duminy expressed his desire to retire from ODIs after the 2019 World Cup but would continue in the shortest format of the game. The southpaw and handy off-spinner is a great bits and pieces all-rounder to have in T20Is. He has showcased his prowess as a finisher in the format several times and is a great pick for he can give you points in either department.

Bowler: Akila Dananjaya (8.5 credits)

Dananjaya could return to be a key figure in Sri Lanka's T20I plans. The mystery spinner was dealt with fairly easily by the Proteas in the ODIs, but at Cape Town in T20Is, their task will be cut out as they need to also score off him. This is where the Lankan spinner gets dangerous and he is a good wicket-taking option in your fantasy side.

Captain: Imran Tahir

Vice-captain: Faf du Plessis
