Mumbai Indians vs. Delhi Capitals: Third IPL Match Preview

Two powerhouses, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, will lock horns in the third match of IPL 2019 at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday evening. Mumbai have the home advantage in their favour in this match. Moreover, they have won five out of the seven matches they have played against Delhi at the Wankhede Stadium. So, that certainly gives the hosts a mental edge.

However, if overall head to head record is considered, there is hardly anything to separate the two sides. Both Mumbai and Delhi have won 11 times each out of a total of 22 matches they have played against each other so far. The Capitals, however, can take heart from their superior record last year. Although Delhi finished at the bottom of the table winning just five matches, they win both of their encounters against Mumbai.

Shreyas Iyer will be leading Delhi this time after taking over the reigns from Gautam Gambhir mid-season last year. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma has openly announced that he will open the innings for the entirety of this season. That is the best thing that can happen for Mumbai but it doesn't bode well for the opposition bowlers at the same time. Going by squad strength, form and previous records, Mumbai should be able to seal the fate of this match in their favour.

Weather Updates: Clear weather throughout the day. The pitch at Wankhede is good for batting. A total of 160 is par. The pacers should enjoy bowling initially on

Predicted XI:

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma(c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Yuvraj Singh, Ben Cutting, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan

Delhi Capitals: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro, Colin Ingram, Rishabh Pant (wk), Shreyas Iyer (C), Harshal Patel, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Trent Boult, Sandeep Lamichhane

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Quinton de Kock (9.5 Cr)

De Kock was Mumbai's big budget buy in the auction. He has already proven his credentials in the IPL. Although he didn't have the best of outings with Bangalore last season, he had a stellar outing with Delhi in seasons prior to that. Moreover, he has been in superb all round form in international cricket of late, and hence he would be looking to find his IPL mojo back in Mumbai colours.

Batsman: Rohit Sharma (10.5 Cr)

The Mumbai skipper will be opening the batting this season and hence there is no better choice for a batsman you can bank on. He can give you those big points hauls regularly. The Wankhede is his home ground and he would be eager to do well here.

All-Rounder: Krunal Pandya (8.5 Cr)

Ever since he made his IPL debut three seasons back, Krunal has been a vital cog of Mumbai's batting and bowling units. He is his captain's go to man with the ball and he delivers with breakthroughs more often than not. With the bat, he is capable of more than just pinch hitting. He is a complete all-round package for your side.

Bowling: Jasprit Bumrah (9.5 Cr)

If you have to choose one bowler from a list of players, and there is Bumrah in it, you simply pick him with your eyes closed. His death bowling will fetch you a lot of wickets and he will even get you the same with the new ball if conditions suit his style.

Captain: Quinton de Kock

Vice-Captain: Krunal Pandya
