Chennai Super Kings vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad: 41st IPL Match Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) won their last two games after losing three in a row, and will be high on confidence taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have lost their last two matches. They even got the better of the MS Dhoni-led team last week, and will have the psychological edge over their rivals. However, their middle order has not yet risen to the occasion and they seem to rely heavily on the duo of David Warner-Jonny Bairstow, which might be an issue against a strong CSK unit.

Chennai return to their fortress at Chepauk, a venue where they have won all four games that they have played this season. The track here assists the spinners, and produces low scoring games, and with CSK having a number of world-class spinners, they will walk into the game as firm favourites.

Player Recommendations:

Wicket-keeper: Jonny Bairstow (10 credits)
Bairstow has amassed 445 runs in IPL 2019 so far, including hitting a fifty in the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders. The Englishman also has a hundred to his name, and he, along with David Warner have been the key players for SRH this season. He has been picked over Dhoni as he bats higher up in the order, which allows him to face more deliveries and get a big score. Bairstow will be returning to England after this game, and will want to bow out on a high.

Batsman: David Warner (11 credits)
The Australian missed

Batsman: David Warner (11 credits)
The Australian missed the IPL last year after being banned for his involvement in the ball-tampering saga, but he has made a thumping comeback into the IPL, and currently holds the Orange Cap for scoring 517 runs for his team. He smashed a fifty against KKR the last time around, and even got a half-century against CSK in the reverse encounter. With the SRH middle-order looking wobbly, the onus will be on him to hand his team a good start on a tough deck.

All-rounder: Dwayne Bravo (9 credits)
The all-rounder returned from a two week layoff after injuring his hamstring and made an immediate impact as he picked up 2 wickets in his quota of overs. The Windies' allrounder has been CSK's go-to man at the death, and knows the conditions well too. With the SRH middle-order looking wobbly, Bravo could be amongst the wickets again.

Bowler: Imran Tahir (9 credits)
Imran Tahir is on top of CSK's wicket-taking charts this season with has 16 wickets and has kept things economical as well, conceding 5.89 runs an over. The Chepauk has produced decks that has traditionally assisted spinners, and with the form he is in, it would be tough to rule him out.

Uncapped Player: Shahbaz Nadeem (8 credits)
Nadeem has not tasted a lot of success this season, but will like bowling on the track at Chepauk. With the wicket here being one of the toughest to bat on in the country, and with tweakers getting a lot of help, Nadeem might fancy his chances.

Captain: Imran Tahir
Vice-captain: Faf du Plessis

Predicted Playing XI:
Chennai Super Kings: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c/wk), Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir

Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Shahbaz Nadeem, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
