The Monkeys are coming off an embarrassing 20-0 (no, that's not a typo) loss against the Chinatrust Brothers in their previous contests and while they remain near the top of the standings and six games over .500, it's clear they are in dire need of a bounce-back performance. Meanwhile, the Guardians are in a clear rebuilding state and feature the league's worst record at 19-29, so there's not a lot of hope for what they can do here even if they are at home. The pitching matchup will feature two foreign pitchers once again, as Henry Sosa will duel against Ryan Carpenter. Both have posted sub-4.20 ERAs, which is excellent for the CPBL standards, although it's clear Carpenter has the edge when it comes to a one-on-one duel. Not only he has logged better results across the entire season, but Sosa will have the daunting task to face one of the best lineups in the league.
