January 12, 2012
Richardson will enter the 2012 NFL Draft, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Richardson has the perfect skill set and build to be a 20-carry runner in the NFL, and he will almost certainly be the first runner selected. The demand for running backs is at an extreme low right now, however, so Richardson isn't a lock to go particularly high even though he's worth a top-15 pick. Listed at 5-foot-11, 224 pounds, Richardson might be the strongest runner the draft has seen since Jamal Lewis, though he's not as fast or explosive as the former Baltimore star. Richardson has plenty of big-play potential, though, as he has good balance and short-area burst. He's also a very good pass catcher. Eddie Lacy and Jalston Fowler should carry the load for Alabama in 2012.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2011
2010
Richardson is a bit of an injury concern after missing two games with a knee issue last year, but it’s generally safe to expect a huge season for the bruiser in 2011. Mark Ingram is out of the way, and while Eddie Lacy is good enough to steal carries, Richardson should have most of the running game to himself in 2011. That means big numbers for Richardson, who is skilled both as a runner and pass catcher.
Mark Ingram is obviously the top Alabama back, but Richardson is too good to not get more carries in 2010. The big-time recruit took 144 carries for 749 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman last year while adding 126 yards on 16 receptions. He's already built like an NFL runner and should be a good RB2, if not RB1, in SEC-only leagues this year. Keep an eye on him in other formats, particularly when Alabama takes on weaker competition.
