Ronald Awatt

If Awatt is UTEP’s number-one back, Deion Hankins is definitely more of a 1-A back as opposed to a number-two back. For two years they have shared the load in the running game. Last season, Awatt had 163 carries for 734 yards, while Hankins had 140 carries for 701 yards. That’s a true dual-back situation. Neither really found the end zone all that much, and Awatt only had two touchdowns on the ground. Additionally, neither back is really part of the passing game. Does sharing carries with Hankins keep Awatt fresh? Or does it tamp down his fantasy upside? Conference USA has shifted around, and it could make for an easier schedule for the Miners. A few more touchdowns, and maybe another 50 to 100 yards, and Awatt will make his mark for fantasy purposes. By the way, the non-conference schedule for UTEP is quite light, so don’t be afraid to jump in on Awatt early.
