Reilly O'Toole

Although he entered the 2012 season with bleak prospects of seeing many snaps behind two-year starter Nathan Scheelhaase, O'Toole eventually got the opportunity to start two games when Scheelhaase went down with an injury, and came on in relief on a few other occasions due to Scheelhaase's ineffectiveness. While his final numbers looked good, much of his damage came against FCS school Charleston Southern, as he looked much less impressive in Big Ten play. Although he'll be thrust into competition with the more-mobile Scheelhaase again this fall, he will more than likely assume backup duties to begin the season. He struggled to adapt to the new offense implemented by Bill Cubit in the offseason and threw four interceptions in the spring game.
