Marc Verica

Verica is the favorite to start at quarterback despite performing miserably up to this point. Verica’s numbers may look like a typo, but he actually did go 28-of-63 for 156 yards for an almost unfathomably low 2.5 yards per pass attempt last season. Two seasons ago Verica was the Cavs’ primary starter and completed 63.8% of his passes (226/354), but still managed to throw 16 interceptions and only eight touchdowns while averaging less than six yards per attempt. Verica will need to improve significantly if he hopes to keep his starting spot for more than a few games. Look for him to get benched during or after the USC game, at which point Ross Metheny or Michael Strauss should take over.
