Declares for NFL Draft
McCord has announced his intentions to enter the 2025 NFL Draft, Mike McAllister of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
McCord will seek out an opportunity at the professional level, choosing to forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility. The 6-foot-3 senior put up a massive season from a volume perspective with the Orange this fall, passing for 4,779 yards (391-of-592), 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, adding on three rushing touchdowns across 13 games. McCord, who started off his collegiate career at Ohio State, will bank on his productive pedigree with two high-level programs.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
McCord has big shoes to fill following the departure of C.J. Stroud to the NFL. Although another highly-touted quarterback, Devin Brown, has also received reps this offseason, McCord figures to be the Buckeyes’ starter come fall. His experience has been limited to mop-up duty thus far in his career, but that can result in significant playing time on a team as dominant as Ohio State. McCord has tossed for 606 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in the past two seasons. He’s set to inherit an offense with an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions, including two of the nation’s best receivers in Marvin Harrison and Emeka Egbuka. Throw in the dynamic one-two punch of TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams in the backfield, and the Buckeyes’ offense should be as explosive as ever. It may take the quarterback a few games to find his footing, as it did with C.J. Stroud, but all signs point to McCord being the next NFL-caliber quarterback Ohio State trots out under center.
