Hill placed his name in the transfer portal Tuesday and is expected to leave Tennessee, Patrick Brown of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hill joined Tennessee as a walk-on last August after transferring from Maryland, sitting out the entire 2019 season but serving an important role for the Volunteers in practices as a scout-team quarterback. With Tennessee already having four scholarship quarterbacks on the 2020 roster, Hill may not have seen a path to contributing and looks poised to continue his career elsewhere. During his time at Maryland, Hill completed 102 of 191 attempts (53.4 percent) for 1,313 yards and an 11:4 TD:INT between the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He suffered season-ending knee injuries in both of those years.

Chris Benzine keeps our Conference Preview series with a deep dive into the Big Ten, where Wisconsin's Jonathon Taylor is looking to build off a stellar freshman season and lead the Badgers to a College Football Playoff berth.
2018 Fantasy Outlook
Hill lost out on the starting job to Tyrrell Pigrome when the team broke fall camp last season. However, Pigrome suffered a torn ACL in the season opener against Texas, opening the door early in the campaign for the freshman signal-caller. Hill performed well in relief against Texas and had little issue the following week against Towson, but he too suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 3 versus UCF and missed all of spring practice because of the injury. Despite his absence in the spring, Hill is expected to be healthy and ready to battle for the starting gig again this fall. He and Pigrome figure to compete again in 2018, though the eventual winner will not have the services of D.J. Moore, the first wide receiver off the board in the 2018 NFL Draft.
