2010
New Mexico's triple-option offense really took off in 2012, and with its realization came a huge breakout season for Carrier, who torched opponents for 1,469 yards (5.8 YPC) and 15 touchdowns in 12 games. That was despite a slow start in which he had just 63 yards against Texas and Texas Tech, meaning Carrier's final 10 games contained 1,406 yards and all 15 scores. The Lobos bring back nearly all of their offensive line, and the triple-option should remain at peak effectiveness with big-play running quarterback Cole Gautsche drawing defenders away from Carrier.
Carrier missed 2011 due to complications resulting from a torn meniscus, but he's back for 2012 and may take over as New Mexico's starting runner. The problem is that the role doesn't look all that desirable – Carrier averaged just 3.6 yard per carry in 2010, and the top returning rusher for New Mexico from last year (Demarcus Rogers) averaged just 3.0 yards per carry in 2011. He might be worth monitoring in MWC-only leagues, but that's all.
Carrier got 61 carries in just six games last year and went for 269 yards, but he's likely to get a lighter workload in 2010. Demond Dennis and James Wright were both much better runners than Carrier was, so he isn't worth consideration in any format.
