Jones, a former high four-star recruit at running back, will head to Iowa Western Community College after a redshirt freshman season where he bounced around between running back, receiver, and defensive back, evidently struggling with academics at the same time. Coach Tracy Claeys said Jones is a "great kid" and is welcome to return to the Gophers if his academic standing should reach a suitable point, but Jones might want to try a school where he has a realistic chance of playing running back -- something Minnesota just didn't appear interested in.
