Fred Ross

Ross enters the year as one of the SEC’s best and most proven receivers and he’s coming off one of the best seasons in the conference from 2015. He hauled in 88 passes on 121 targets (72%) -- one shy of Calvin Ridley’s conference-leading 89 -- for 1,007 yards (11.44 YPR) and five touchdowns as Dak Prescott’s favorite weapon. At 6-2, 205, Ross isn’t just a product of Mississippi State’s system -- he can go out and make plays for himself thanks to his big, physical frame, solid agility for a receiver his size, and good hands. He’ll have a new quarterback to work with this season now that Dak Prescott will be playing on Sundays, but Ross is far-and-away Mississippi State’s best returning receiver, especially now that Fred Brown is gone from the program and De’Runnya Wilson is a free agent in the NFL. Provided that quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is at least competent, Ross will be one of the most heavily targeted and most productive wideouts in the SEC once again.
