Baxter generated tons of hype in the past year or so, but he's so far been more of a nuisance than an asset to the USC program. With Allen Bradford out of the picture and the injury prone Marc Tyler as the team's lone established remaining runner, Baxter will get a chance to redeem himself in 2011. His average of 4.3 yards per carry from last year badly needs to improve, however.
Baxter is a big-time recruit who's already somewhat legendary for the way he tore apart the USC defense in spring practices. He's already shown a remarkable ability to split a defense, but Allen Bradford is a major obstacle to production for Baxter. Look for him to take the top backup role from C.J. Gable before the season ends, though. He's a high upside insurance pick in Pac-10-only leagues.
