Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2012
Sims struggled with his health for much of 2012, but got 393 of his 612 yards over the Jackets’ final five contests. He’s scored 11 touchdowns in the past two seasons, and is the best bet for Georgia Tech running back production in 2013. It’s possible he’ll share carries with Zach Laskey more than he did towards the end of 2012 in an effort to keep him fully healthy, and Sims has had exactly 135 carries in each of the past two seasons. But it’s also possible that number goes up closer to 175-200, at which point Sims would have real value. He’s worth a flier at the end of most drafts, and should be a RB2 at worst in ACC-heavy leagues.
Sims only received 11.3 carries last year, but he averaged 5.2 yards per carry as he ran for 698 yards and seven touchdowns, adding an eighth touchdown on a reception. His workload should increase very slightly in 2012 since Georgia Tech lost three top runners to graduation, so double-digit touchdowns are within reach, making him worth owning in ACC-only leagues despite his low yardage total.
