BC: Chase Rettig Picked Off Twice in V100 Bowl
December 31, 2013
Rettig completed 16-of-26 passes for 191 yards Tuesday against Arizona in the V100 Bowl. He was picked off twice.
ANALYSIS
This line pretty much sums up Rettig's season, and career. He never emerged as a real threat after starting games in each of his four seasons in Chestnut Hill after being a four-star recruit. Josh Bordner is an equally uninspiring option who figures to replace Rettig in 2014.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2013
2012
2011
Rettig took a reasonable step forward in 2012, throwing for 3,065 yards and 17 scores. He’ll enter 2013 with 33 career starts under his belt. That’s the good news. The bad news is Rettig tossed 13 picks a season ago, was sacked 36 times and will be working with his fifth offensive coordinator in five years on campus. Rettig will remain a capable quarterback in his final year, but is more valuable to the Eagles’ than your roster, where he likely won’t be more than a QB2 in ACC leagues.
Rettig enters his third season as the starter at Boston College, one which does not project much improvement. As a freshman, Rettig completed only 51.3 percent of his passes in his nine games played. There wasn't much improvement last season, either, as Rettig completed 53.6 percent of his passes. On top of that, backup Josh Bordner, known more for what he can do with his feet, might take some snaps for himself on running plays. The Eagles generally don't pass frequently, so Rettig's value probably wouldn't be too high even if he becomes more efficient.
Rettig should improve a good amount in his second season as a starter, but his fantasy utility will likely be limited, in any case. Boston College has been a run first and second offense since Matt Ryan headed to the NFL.
