Past Fantasy Outlooks

2010
Bumphis is a talented receiver who could break out in 2012 as the Bulldogs move to a more pass-oriented offense under quarterback Tyler Russell. Bumphis finished 2011 with just 25 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns, but expect him to at least match his 2010 totals of 44 catches for 634 yards and five touchdowns in 2012. He should definitely be owned in SEC-only leagues, and he's worth a close look in other deep formats, too.
Bumphis is a talented receiver, but his upside is limited by Mississippi State's run heavy spread offense. The team will work hard to get the ball in his hands, but generally speaking, it seems like Bumphis is only worth a start against weak defenses, something that isn't especially easy to find in the SEC.
Bumphis was one of the nation's top wide receiver recruits from last year, as he chose to play for Mississippi State rather than the likes of Alabama, Florida, LSU and Oklahoma, plus a huge list of others, no doubt. He was everything Mississippi State could have hoped for as a freshman, leading the team with 32 receptions for 375 yards and four touchdowns, showing he was worth the hype. His fantasy potential is limited because the team doesn't throw much, but he should improve on that production a bit and should be a sneaky play against poor defense and in shootouts this year. He's worth a gamble pick in SEC-only leagues.
