Headed to play FCS ball
Shaw announced Thursday via his personal Twitter page that he is transferring to play at Northern Iowa next season.
ANALYSIS
Shaw spent the majority of his collegiate career at Wisconsin where he totaled 114 carries for 481 yards and five touchdowns as a backup to Jonathan Taylor. The redshirt senior made the transition over to Cal but never really got his feet off the ground after logging just 11 rushes for 18 yards and a touchdown in three games. Shaw will look to revitalize his career at Northern Iowa where he should have a good chance to be the feature back after spending several years playing at the highest level of college football.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2018
2017
Shaw missed all of the 2018 season due to a devastating leg injury that occurred late in 2017. In his absence, Taiwan Deal -- who has since graduated -- and Garrett Groshek served as the two complement backs to Jonathan Taylor. Groshek remains on hand as a third-down receiving back, while Shaw will likely slot in as the primary backup when Taylor needs a breather. Shaw's 2017 season didn't go as planned, seeing a major dip to 3.8 yards per carry from the 5.2 he averaged as a freshman in 2016. That issue has seemingly drifted into the rearview with the news that he's expected to be ready for the start of training camp. Shaw's 2019 outlook certainly won't be as bright as it looked heading into 2017, but he could gain fantasy relevance as the second-string back in a run-heavy Wisconsin offense.

Cleared for camp
Shaw (knee) was cleared to participate for the start of Wisconsin's training camp earlier this month, Evan Flood of 247Sports.com reports. "He's full-go. His strength numbers are as good as they've ever been," running backs coach John Settle said. "We're going to give him an opportunity to get in there with the 1's from day one and see where he is. He'll have every opportunity to compete and see if he can help us win in the fall."
