Mauk's appeal to the Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee for a sixth year of eligibility was turned down on Friday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Mauk plans to appeal to the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee for reconsideration for a sixth year of eligibility, GoBEARCATS.com reports. His original request had been previously denied. According to head coach, Brian Kelly, "This next step in the NCAA process will give Ben his first opportunity to speak directly with the Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee."

The NCAA turned down Mauk's request for another season of eligibility, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
