Pittsburgh: Ray Graham (Hamstring) Out
Hamstring
January 5, 2013
Graham (hamstring) will miss Saturday's bowl game against Mississippi, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Injuries have been a huge problem for Graham the last two years, and this is certainly a disappointing end to his Pittsburgh career. Rushel Shell is the top backup.

Graham is a mammoth boom-or-bust pick coming off a late-season injury from 2011. Graham suffered a season-ending knee injury in November, the nature of which Pittsburgh declined to disclose. New coach Paul Chryst – the former Wisconsin offensive coordinator – said Graham is expected to be ready for fall camp, however. If that is the case, then go ahead and move Graham into the top 10, because his new playcaller churned out nation-leading rushers year after year at Wisconsin, and Graham himself did quite fine in 2011 before the injury, totaling 945 yards and nine touchdowns rushing plus 30 receptions for 200 yards in seven games.
Graham would be worth ranking as high as perhaps the top five if the team were running the same pro-style offense it did in past years, but the arrival of coach Todd Graham means the team will install a Tulsa-style offense. Still, Graham is an elusive playmaker who can easily fit into the scheme—the issue is just that he won’t get as many carries as he would have previously. But even if Graham doesn’t get a big workload as a runner, expect him to make plays as a pass catcher.
You wouldn't have known it from last year, but Graham was actually a more prized recruit for Pittsburgh than Dion Lewis was. Of course, Lewis turned out to be the far better player in 2009, but Graham's potential isn't deniable. He averaged 5.72 yards per carry while running for 349 yards and four touchdowns as a change of pace runner, and he's too good to not see a far greater number of touches in 2010. He should turn out to be a good RB2 in Big East-only leagues, and he should be picked up immediately in all formats if Dion Lewis unfortunately gets hurt.
