ANALYSIS
Phillips finished last season as the starter after Stave suffered a broken collarbone in late October. However, he's limited athletically due to three torn ACLs and does not possess the arm strength of Stave. Phillips has received a portion of the first team reps in practice, but Stave started the team's recent scrimmage and has been working with the starters in situational drills. Coach Gary Anderson is yet to officially declare a starter, but with just nine days until the team's opener against UMass an announcement should come in the near future.
