Desmond Johnson

Johnson is a good player who would be a huge fantasy asset in Southern Mississippi's offense if it weren't for the presence of Kendrick Hardy, another talented runner. It looks like the team is committed to splitting carries between the two, so their value is primarily in C-USA-only leagues, but they both could be useful in certain matchups.

Johnson is a prized recruit for Southern Mississippi, and he ran well as a freshman last year in the only game he played. He took seven carries for 72 yards and a touchdown in that showing. Unfortunately, Southern Mississippi has at least three other players who figure to run the ball this year, including fellow mega-recruit Kendrick Hardy and playmaker Tracey Lampley. Johnson is someone worth taking a later-round pick on in CUSA-only leagues, but otherwise he's only worth monitoring.
