November 24, 2012
Davis ran for 31 yards on seven carries against LSU on Friday while catching five passes for 52 yards.
ANALYSIS
Davis' season was a disaster of jaw-dropping proportions, as he finishes with just 377 yards and two touchdowns rushing and 157 yards and a touchdown receiving. Formerly an elite talent, it seems that injuries have broken one or both of Davis' mind and body.

Durability has been an issue for Davis – bone breaks in particular – and it's perhaps the only reason he isn't ranked No.1 among running backs. He missed 2011 with a broken ankle, but with a size, speed and strength combination probably matched by no running back in the nation, Davis is devastating when is in on the field, as evidenced by his 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing (6.4 YPC) in seven 2010 starts. Those numbers just aren't supposed to happen in the SEC, but Davis was matchup-proof that year, pummeling Ohio State, South Carolina, LSU and Mississippi State run defenses that ranked in the top 40 for 588 yards and six touchdowns (5.4 YPC).
After somehow getting overlooked by Arkansas’ coaches for all of 2009 and roughly the first month of the 2010 season, Davis was finally given the ball starting around mid-October of last year, and he was an absolute terror from there. He totaled 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground in the last seven weeks of the year, and even chipped in 89 yards and a touchdown through the air in that same span. Davis’ combination of size, speed and power might be unmatched nationwide, and if he keeps producing like he did last year, Adrian Peterson comparisons might be in order.
Davis is probably the fourth running back option for Arkansas even though he was a big recruit for the program, choosing Arkansas over the likes of Oklahoma and LSU. He took 33 carries for 163 yards and four touchdowns last year, but Ronnie Wingo Jr, Dennis Johnson and Broderick Green are all probably ahead of him. Just keep an eye on him in SEC-only leagues.
