McCarron averaged just 5.8 yards per pass, which is highly unusual for him. He'll be much more efficient against Chattanooga, though he might not even play a full half.

McCarron will likely get an A+ for his per-play production in 2013, as he figures to score two or more touchdowns per game despite throwing the ball a relatively low number of times. Between his own talent and the incredible supporting cast around him, McCarron has an extremely high floor. Unfortunately, that floor is about the same as his ceiling in Alabama's run-heavy scheme.

McCarron is coming off his first full season as a starter for the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-4, junior quarterback threw for 2,634 yards last season and added 18 touchdowns (16 passing) to that total. However, Alabama threw the ball only 27.5 times per game. In a run-heavy offense, McCarron might not provide the value that of a quarterback from a more pass-happy offense. McCarron also likely will not provide any value on the ground, rushing for minus-22 yards last season on 30 attempts.

McCarron isn't guaranteed to win Alabama's starting spot, but he seems to be the most likely candidate. While the former top recruit has been promising in his brief appearances up to this point, his upside is likley limited by Alabama's run-heavy offense.
