Wisconsin: John Clay Headed To NFL
Clay will declare for the 2011 NFL Draft, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Clay's stock is not particularly high right now, but staying around for another year at Wisconsin wouldn't have helped him much. Injury and weight concerns will likely keep Clay out of the first three rounds, but Clay could be a workout warrior waiting to happen. Not many people seem to remember, but when he's fully healthy, Clay can really burn up the field. It wouldn't be at all surprising if he ran in the 4.4 second range in the 40-yard dash, presuming his ankles are in good enough shape. Look for Clay to go anywhere from the fourth round to undrafted depending on how he shows in the offseason workouts.

2010 Fantasy Outlook
Clay, the reigning Big Ten Player of the year, is expected to have a strong season and potentially put himself in the mix for the Heisman Trophy. Clay is a big, physical rusher at 6-1, 248 pounds who can be assured of consistent carries in Wisconsin’s run-heavy offense. He finished last season with 1,517 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, including reaching 100 yards in each of the teams final six games. The big question about Clay will be his durability, as he is coming back from off-season surgery on both ankles. Although not a threat as a receiver, if Clay can stay healthy he is primed for a big season including a large touchdown total.
