Samuel remains a darkhorse in the competition for the No. 2 running back spot, but has juggled time between the first and second unit since the beginning of preseason practice. The 5-foot-7 walk-on is vying for time behind expected starter Patrick Taylor with fellow sophomores Timothy Taylor and Marquavius Weaver. His experience has made a fast impression on offensive coordinator Kevin Johns, who stated, "He understands how fall practices work and he's working like a grown man, like a mature man."
