Slated for season-ending surgery
Barnett will undergo season-ending surgery on his injured ankle Friday, Chris Torello of Bay News 9 St. Petersburg reports.
ANALYSIS
Barnett had already been ruled out for Saturday's game against Navy, but the procedure will spell an official end to the a disappointing season for the fifth-year senior. The signal-caller opened the campaign as the Bulls' starter before losing the gig to Jordan McCloud after completing only 40 of 77 attempts (51.9 percent) for 434 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions while adding 63 more yards on the ground through four games. It's unclear whether Barnett's career will come to an end or if he'll petition the NCAA for a medical redshirt that would grant him a sixth year of eligibility in 2020.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Barnett had to fill big shoes last year as the replacement for Quintin Flowers, but he fell especially short in conference play. Against AAC foes, he averaged 225 yards per game with a 60.8 completion percentage with four touchdowns and eight interceptions in seven games. There's a slight caveat to those numbers as he ended the year battling a shoulder injury, which forced him to miss two of the final four games, but it only slowed a year that wasn't going too great anyway. A year of starting experience can only help, but it will still likely fall short of the quarterback production we expected out of South Florida during the Flowers days.
