Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
2015
Falk is back at the helm of Washington State's offense for his third full season as the starter. He's already the second quarterback to throw for more than 10,000 yards under coach Mike Leach at WSU and likely will be the school's all-time leading passer by season's end. Falk has thrown for at least 4,400 yards and 38 touchdowns in each of his two full seasons as starter, and even though he's missing some of his top targets from last year, he's still one of the safest quarterback options in the game thanks to his talent and high-volume system.
The starting quarterback in a Mike Leach offense is perhaps the most consistent entity in college football. The unmatched tempo and passing aggression of the Leach offense all but assures the national lead in pass attempts, and a safe 4,500-yard projection as a result. Although his season was disrupted by a concussion, Falk threw for 4,561 yards (7.1 YPA) and 38 touchdowns in 12 games, and he's a good bet to outdo those numbers if he stays completely healthy for 2016. Despite the cartoonish passing game stats, Falk's upside is otherwise capped by his negative rushing yardage.
Falk heads into fall the favorite to replace Connor Halliday, making him a top breakout candidate for 2015. Mike Leach's Air Raid offense attempted 64.3 passes per game last season, 15 more than the next most prolific passing offense. That makes WSU's quarterback a borderline elite fantasy option by default, but Falk is even more intriguing considering his 7.7 YPA. In four starts last year for the injured Halliday, Falk threw for 1,859 yards and 13 touchdowns. Even if his YPA drops a bit, Falk still appears to be a lock for at least 5,000 passing yards, as the Cougars have plenty of receiving options and their entire offensive line returning.
