Wisconsin is more well-known for its powerful run game than it is for its passing attack, but being the No.1 receiver in that offense has paid dividends in recent years and Wheelwright looks to be the heir apparent to take up that mantle. The top wideout in the Badger offense hasn’t caught fewer than 49 passes since 2010, and Alex Erickson led the way last season with 77 grabs. Wheelwright may have been a secondary option in the passing game last season, but he tied for the team lead in touchdowns (4) and he averaged a solid 13.0 YPR with 32 grabs on 49 targets. He should step into the No. 1 role, and regardless of whether it’s Bart Houston or Alex Hornibrook under center for the Badgers, Wheelwright should lead the team and targets and if he can maintain his efficiency (65.3%), he could be in line for a strong senior season.
