Headed to NFL
January 12, 2017
Scott announced he will enter the 2017 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Scott isn't one of the headliners at the receiver position in this draft, but he's a fine slot prospect for the NFL and could push into the third- and fourth-round range if he runs well at the Combine. His Clemson career was defined by diminished returns, as his excellent 2014 true freshman season, when he caught 76 passes for 965 yards and eight touchdowns, proved to easily be his best year. From there he posted 901, and 614 yards in the respective subsequent seasons. Still, Scott's reliable hands (245 receptions in three years) and his superb freshman season give a general sense of promise in his prospect profile. His exit forces Clemson to lean more heavily on Ray Ray McCloud and Deon Cain.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
Scott led the Tigers in receptions, yards and touchdowns in 2015, yet his year probably qualified as a disappointment. He turned into a possession receiver, averaging just 9.7 yards on his impressive 93 catches. It's possible, if not probable, that the return of Mike Williams will open the field up for Scott. But Clemson has no shortage of playmakers, and there are only so many balls to go around. Scott went for 901 yards and eight scores as a freshman, and 965 yards and six scores as a sophomore. As dynamic as he can be week to week, Scott's value may lie more with his consistency than his upside.
Impressive as Mike Williams is, Scott could easily emerge as Clemson's top fantasy wideout this year. Although not nearly as big as Williams at 5-10, 190, Scott has blazing speed and the ability to do damage on underneath routes. He finished his true freshman season last year with 76 catches, 965 yards and eight touchdowns, including 58 catches for 660 yards and five touchdowns in the final eight games. Scott might not post the yards and touchdowns to outpace Williams in most fantasy leagues, but he'll almost certainly catch more passes, making him preferable in PPR formats.
