Declares for 2017 NFL Draft
Godwin announced Thursday that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft.
ANALYSIS
Godwin led the Nittany Lions in receiving for the second consecutive year in 2016 and although he didn't reach the 1,000-yard mark like he did as a sophomore, he was a more explosive receiver (16.64 YPR) who more than doubled his touchdown output (5 TD in 2015, 11 TD in 2016). He made a strong impression on the nation in his final collegiate game as he torched USC's star-studded secondary for nine receptions, 187 yards (career-high), and two touchdowns. Godwin (6-1, 205) has excellent hands and shows an innate ability to find the ball and come down with it in contested situations. He was named third team All-Big Ten by the media for his performance in 2016.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2014
Godwin enters the 2016 season as arguably the best receiver in the Big 10 thanks to a strong sophomore campaign in which he hauled in 70 of 118 targets (59.3% catch rate) for 1,103 yards (15.8 YPR) and five scores. At 6-1, 208, Godwin has solid size on the outside to go with speed that matches his physicality at the point of the catch. He’s able to attack the ball when it’s in the air and out-muscle cornerbacks to come down with the catch, which is an extremely important trait considering the top flight defensive backs he faces in the Big Ten East. Godwin will have to adjust to a new quarterback and a new offensive system, but new offensive coordinator Joe Moorehead’s system ought to be conducive to creating opportunities for Godwin. It’s also worth noting that defenses won’t be able to solely key on Godwin given that DaeSean Hamilton and Saeed Blacknall are strong receivers in their own right. Even with an inexperienced quarterback at the helm and a new OC calling the shots, Godwin should be primed for a big time season for the Nittany Lions.
