Torn ACL confirmed
Knee
December 31, 2016
Butt did in fact tear his ACL during Friday's Orange Bowl loss to Florida State, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The injury will require surgery, meaning Butt's draft stock will almost certainly be harmed. Despite the harsh injury, it's not impossible for him to be ready in time for Week 1 of the NFL season, although there's still no official timetable for his return.

2015 Fantasy Outlook
Butt was hampered by lingering knee issues last season stemming from a torn ACL that he suffered in a 2014 winter conditioning session. Now he'll have the benefit of a fully healed knee and a Jim Harbaugh system that has an excellent track record of maximizing the potential of its tight ends. Look for Butt, at 6-6, 248, to be an essential piece in Michigan's offense this season, especially considering the loss Devin Funchess.
