Held in check Saturday
November 13, 2016
Chesson caught two of five targets for 30 yards in Saturday's loss to Iowa.
ANALYSIS
29 of Chesson's 30 yards came on one reception Saturday as he was otherwise held in check by the Hawkeyes. Part of Chesson's low output Saturday can be attributed to Wilton Speight's shaky play at quarterback, but it was a disappointing game from Chesson overall. Chesson and the Wolverines will host Indiana on Saturday.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Chesson and Amara Darboh combine for one of the most experienced and physically imposing receiving tandems in the Big 10 heading into this season. Chesson (6-3, 207) was largely lost in the shuffle his first two years in uniform, combining for 29 receptions and 375 yards (12.9 YPR) and one touchdown in 2013 and 2014. He broke out in a huge way last season, especially down the stretch when he hauled in 25 grabs for 423 yards and six scores in November. Those numbers alone put him 18th in the nation in yards per game (105.8) in that stretch, ahead of current NFL’ers like Will Fuller, Leonte Carroo, and Pharoh Cooper; his six scores in that stretch put him tied for first in the nation. He did suffer a leg injury in Michigan’s bowl game that limited him throughout the spring, but the it shouldn’t affect him once the season kicks off in September. Chesson will need to develop a chemistry with whomever wins the starting quarterback job, but he was able to quickly jive with Jake Rudock in the same type of situation a year ago. Look for Chesson to be either John O’Korn or Wilton Speight’s favorite target thanks to his combination of length, experience in the system, and ability to win 50-50 balls.
