Hauls in all nine targets
October 24, 2016
Jacobs caught all nine of his targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's win over Michigan State.
ANALYSIS
Jacobs had a slow start to the season but he's come on strong of late with 19 catches over the last two weeks. His yardage outputs have been modest, however, as he's averaging just 7.8 YPR in that stretch. In fairness, Maryland's scheme does not incorporate many deep shots down the field, so Jacobs is tasked with doing most of his work close to the line of scrimmage. Still, Jacobs' increased share of the targets makes him someone to at least monitor on the waiver wire.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
Jacobs returned to the Terrapins last season after serving a year-long suspension in 2014. He quickly re-established himself as Maryland’s top receiver, but being the top receiver in an offense led by Perry Hills and Caleb Rowe did not amount to a ton of fantasy production. Former Arkansas State OC Walt Bell is taking the reins of the Maryland after helping the Red Wolves average 40.0 points per game in 2015. With that, Jacobs could be in for a boost in production and targets within Maryland’s new system in 2016. He figures to start alongside graduate transfer Teldrick Morgan and sophomore D.J Moore.
When the dust settled at the end of the offseason, Maryland’s receiving corps was unrecognizable from 2014’s unit. Stefon Diggs and Deon Long will be playing on Sundays this fall and Juwann Winfree, Jacquille Veii, and Marcus Leak are no longer with the program. Enter Jacobs, who sat out all of last season due to suspension. As a sophomore in 2013, Jacobs reeled in 47 grabs for 640 yards--both good enough for best on the team. He’ll return to the field this year as arguably Maryland’s top receiving option and he’ll likely be catching passes from Oklahoma State transfer Daxx Garman. There will be some learning curve for Garman as he learns the system, but he should be a step above C.J Brown as a passer, which bodes well for Jacobs. Toss in the fact that Maryland’s run game is going to be in the bottom quarter of the FBS and will be facing tough run defenses on a weekly basis and Jacobs suddenly becomes an appealing option in the later rounds of your draft.
